A novel approach to assessing cognitive state during real-world tasks - Phase II

Agency: NIH/ABM

Agency Award Number: R42 MH097303

Participants will be fitted with an EEG wireless sensor headset that monitors electroencephalographic (EEG) and electrocardiographic (EKG) signals and then perform a short series of calibration tests.  Once calibrated they will complete a) a brief set of test of thinking and memory b) tests administered on a driving simulator and c) about half the cohort will be asked to complete an on road driving test.  Should the project be successful, we will have greater understanding as to why older individuals with HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders struggle with real-world tasks.
